Part 5: Research point - Posters - part 3

This is a poster for a local gig in Houston Texas. Authentic illustration with a perfect use of color and pattern is what caught my eye instantly.

I like this rock’n’ roll style for American heavy metal band Mastodon. Illustration is very rich despite the limited color palette. I like textures and prints and I think it is very effective along with this combination of bold and narrow typefaces. I think I found a valuable example as an inspiration for my next exercise.

This is a poster for Wilco, alternative rock band I am familiar with. I love this photo; it has that nostalgic and melancholic sense. Title is clean and simple but very notable, positioned on a light sky.

Another poster for Wilco that I found very interesting. I like the effect of hiding letters in this book shelf. I also like the way how limited palette works in this case.

This illustration based poster works great both as an concept and design. I like black and white illustration and yellow dotted numbers 1,2,3,4. Date and place are stamped in lower left corner.

This poster reminds me on surreal paintings. I love the vivid colors and textures that make it more rich and a little grunge, achieving the depth and consistency.

This poster is an example of simplicity but it so strong in conveying message that it chills me to the bone.

I like this poster for his retro style and a good use of colors. Complementary colors such as orange and blue can clush if they are not used carefully. What I like here is good contrast and visual dynamic when it comes to both graphics and typography.

This interesting retro style poster is for the Music Conference in Melbourne. I like the idea of combination of typewritter and keyboard which produces a announcement for the event. I also like typograhy and its masking effects along with slightly textured paper. These small details give richness to simple design. I like the shades of violet with white and brown as they create a beautiful contrast.

This poster design shows all richness using only black and white and its shades. I like the use of light, starry sky, and this fantastic typography that goes so naturally with the rest of the composition.

This is my favorite poster design which I would love to have on the wall.  It symbolically represents  passion and fire in rock'n' roll jamming  in a very expressive way. Big woman's leg in high heel shoe trampling the wire. I love the details like grunge background which  goes very well with  this concept. All richness and visual dymanic is accomplished using limitted color palette that works great.
